National Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day
The designated date of Thursday, April 17, 2014 is "Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" in Broward County Public Schools. The national day is Thursday, April 24, 2014; however, this date is in conflict with administration of state mandated testing. The campaign provides the opportunity for parents and other adults to showcase their job responsibilities, introduce their co-workers and discuss the various career opportunities that are available in their workplace.
To participate in "Take our Daughters and Sons to Work Day" parents and students must complete a "Release of Liability" form that will be sent home on April 10, 2014. This form must be signed by both student and parent then returned to STMS NLT April 14, 2014. During the Take Our Daughters and Sons to Work Day students will need to complete a Secondary School Activity Packet. Students will need to download the SSAP that is located below. The completed Activity Packet should be returned to STMS NLT April 15, 2014.

NJHS BECCA'S CLOSET
Have you ever needed a homecoming, prom, or military ball dress? Did you know that many young high school women decide not to attend these lifetime memory making events because they can’t afford to buy a dress? Becca’s Closet is a non-profit organization that donates free dresses to high school girls who cannot afford to purchase them, and Silver Trail Middle School’s National Junior Honor Society would like to assist them in this endeavor, but we need your help. Please raid your closets, ask your family members to do the same, and donate those homecoming, prom, or military dresses by sending them in with your student, bringing them in yourself or handing them out the car window to a volunteer at parent drop-off in the morning. This collection will be taking place for the entire month of April, just in time to find that dress a new home for the May social season.
Thank you for your support!
