250 BCPS Students Participate in Rally to the Tally for New Floridians

WHO:
Broward County Public Schools (BCPS) Students from Nine Middle Schools and 13 High Schools


WHAT:
250 BCPS middle and high school students who are English Language Learners will participate in Rally to the Tally for New Floridians, a four-day field trip to Tallahassee taking place Monday, May 4 through Thursday, May 7, 2026.

Rally to the Tally for New Floridians provides students with an opportunity to learn firsthand about state and federal governments. The experience includes tours of the Florida Supreme Court and the State Capitol, as well as scheduled meetings with members of the House and Senate where students will present items from their Youth Legislative Agenda. During the trip, students will also tour the University of Florida and University of Central Florida.

WHEN/ WHERE:
Monday, May 4, 2026 – Buses depart from multiple District locations.

Students and staff will begin to arrive at approximately 4:30 a.m. Buses will depart by 4:55 a.m.

WHY:
Rally to the Tally for New Floridians
 aims to foster confidence among students, encourage them to be active citizens of the community and raise awareness of the American cultural values placed on education and community involvement. This unique experience is organized by the BCPS Bilingual/ESOL Department, in collaboration with the Close Up Foundation, and is funded by Title III, Part A.
